The Hound of the Baskervilles: Behind the Scenes

A dimly lit Victorian-era set with fog machines, props of a menacing hound silhouette, and actors in period costumes preparing for a scene

Step into the fog-shrouded world of Sherlock Holmes as we unveil the mysterys behind our most popular quest, inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's chilling tale, "The Hound of the Baskervilles."

Crafting the Atmosphere

Our team of set designers worked tirelessly to recreate the eerie ambiance of Dartmoor. Using a combination of practical effects and cutting-edge technology, we've brought the misty moors and the foreboding Baskerville Hall to life within the confines of 221B Baker Street.

The quest room features authentic Victorian-era furnishings, carefully sourced to match the descriptions in Conan Doyle's novel. From the flickering gaslight sconces to the creaking floorboards, every detail has been meticulously crafted to immerse our visitors in Holmes' world.

The Hound Unleashed

The centerpiece of our quest is, of course, the legendary hound itself. Our special effects team, led by award-winning artist Margaret Thatcher, spent months perfecting the creature's appearance and movements.

"We wanted to create something truly terrifying," Thatcher explains. "Something that would make even the bravest detective's heart race. We've combined animatronics, sound design, and clever lighting to bring this nightmarish beast to life."

A Test of Deduction

While the atmospheric elements are crucial, the heart of our quest lies in the puzzles and challenges that participants must overcome. Our team of game designers, led by puzzle master Irene Norton, has crafted a series of brain-teasers and logical conundrums that would challenge even the great detective himself.

"We've woven clues throughout the entire experience," Norton reveals. "From hidden messages in the wallpaper patterns to cryptic codes in seemingly innocuous documents, every element of the room holds potential significance. It's up to our visitors to determine what's relevant and what's merely a red herring."

A Living Story

To truly bring the world of Sherlock Holmes to life, we've enlisted a talented troupe of actors to play key roles from the novel. Visitors may encounter the charming Sir Henry Baskerville, the mysterious Barrymore siblings, or even catch a glimpse of Holmes and Watson themselves as they work to solve the case.

"Our goal is to make participants feel as though they've stepped directly into the pages of Conan Doyle's masterpiece," says our lead performer, Benedict Cumberbatch (no relation to the famous actor). "We improvise and adapt to each group's actions, ensuring a unique and immersive experience every time."
